Hazel Lodge Reviews

Charlotte
Absolutely lovely stay at Hazel lodge. So impressed with how well equipped the kitchen was unusual to find! and I have never slept on a more comfortable mattress, ever!
Imogen
We had a lovely stay at Hazel Lodge, the facilities were clean and lodge was nice. The only couple of things that let it down were 1 On the email before we arrived we were told to bring our own tea towels, toilet roll, etc which I did bring from home but these were already provided. 2 We had to provide our own dishwasher tablets and bin liners. Little things like this would be helpful to be provided. 3 We also had to strip our beds and put all our dishes away. This was fine but with a 10am check out it was quite rushed especially with 3 kids, I feel we spent a lot of money to stay at the property so this could have been done included in the cleaning once we had left as the other guests wouldnt check in until 3pm. They are only minor and all in all we had a lovely stay here and would return.
Duncan
We had a fantastic stay. And the lodge was excellent.
We booked and stayed at Hazel Lodge over a long weekend for my mums 80th birthday. The cottage was as described, had everything we needed and very comfortable. There were 8 adults and 1 dog, and enough room to cater for everyone. Lloyd was quick to respond to any questions. Would highly recommend.
Abigail
Lovely stay at Hazel Lodge. The hot tub was a real hit with everyone and was maintained to a very high standard. The lodge was a great base for the week to get out and explore and just big enough for two families although it was quite tight to get 8 around the dining table area. It would have been great to have some sort of play equipment on the site for kids as it is obviously very popular with families. Lloyd was very attentive and quick to help with any queries.
Susanna
Lovely break, very peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed the hot tub every evening. Great take away from The Spice Merchant and generous portions for dinner at The White Horse Inn. Best beach for the dog was Dunster, Minehead was a bit further but worth the drive. You will need to take the car as it is tucked away, this didn't bother us we enjoyed the seclusion.
Amanda
Lovely lodge, comfortable beds with plenty of room to accommodate 4 adults and 4 kids. Had everything you needed for a weeks stay and was peaceful surroundings. Didnt have the need to contact the owners as everything went smoothly.
An absolutely beautiful lodge and site. It was lovely to spend a week here. Everything needed and more is in the lodge and the hot tub was loved by the family. Site is peaceful and very well maintained and cared for. Just lovely.
Shells cottageslodges are an ideal place to stay if you want to visit that part of West Somerset. The location is 10 and the cottageslodges 10. The whole area when you first drive in is so well maintained and all the properties have parking and lovely grounds with plenty of seating and then of course there is the hot tub!! The hot tub is checked daily. We would like to say a big thank you to all the fantastic team who made us so welcome. You are Super Hosts We are Super Guests so now some small things and they are minor for those arriving late maybe just some initial shower products and there was no kitchen roll. The only other thing is to explain the rubbish more clearly the toilet waste bags disposal and maybe a bin for recycling. If you have never been to West Somerset You should so much to see and do. We had a great time Thanks again.
Nadine
We really enjoy the Hazel Lodge, quiet, clean, well situated to visit around. Smaller rooms than expected but for the 4 of us and the dog it was ok. We had a nice beginning of the year. Thank you to your team.
Good value . ..lovely property for family hol. Peaceful surrounds. Very conveniently located for nearby coves and bays, for beaches away from the usual busy hullabaloo. Good local convenience stores, takeaways, and restaurants. Only slight shortcoming was the fact that the layout of the upper floor means people in back bedroom have to walk through the front bedroom to get to the front door which is fine for family with kids less so for two couples.
Verity
Lovely property, spacious and ideal for 2 families or couples as there are two separate spaces but also space to come back together. Very relaxing and easy access to a local attractions. Everything there that we needed and we will return!
Summer
We rented out both of the cottages with hot tubs and had a fantastic time. The ladies who checked on the hot tubs each morning were lovely to us and we had everything we needed!!! We will be coming back next year for sure

Rebecca
We had a very relaxed and comfortable stay at Hazel Lodge. The lodge was well equipped with everything we needed and was in a great location for visiting the local coastline. The hot tub was huge and fitted all 6 adults in easily, such a bonus. All sad to leave after a week, 100 recommend.
Valerie
Lloyd was extremely helpful and responded very quickly whenever we had any queries. The lodge was very comfortable and had many amenities, the large screen tv being great for watching the Euros. It even had Netflix. The hot tub was a very welcome extra and the log burning stove provided a cosy addition on a wet evening. The paths down to the village could do with clearing a bit as it would be nice to stroll down to the pub in the evening. The paths are currently very overgrown and difficult to negotiate. Other than that I can think of no negatives and we all had a very enjoyable stay at Hazel Lodge.
Really enjoyed our stay, couldn't fault the lodge and facilities, very clean and equipped, and the hot tub was nice. A nice location, albeit it on a hill so not suitable for boules, a couple of nice walks and bike rides. A couple of helpful items to add to the lodge would be a broom and a clothes horse for when it's raining outside.
Charlotte
Comfortable cabin, clean with good facilities.
Hazel lodge was lovely so clean and wellequipped. Surrounding area was beautiful too and Lloyd was very accommodating.
The lodge was absolutely ideal especially with the added bonus of a hot tub. Everything was spotless. The only problem was having to walk quite a distance for the toilet and shower, maybe an outside facility would be an idea. Instructions for the dishwasher would have also been helpful.
We had a wonderful stay at Hazel Lodge and the owner was very helpful in accommodating our use of the hot tub and late check out. It's a beautiful lodge with great facilities that we would highly recommend.
Rebecca
Great location, accommodation was excellent, friendly helpful staff om the phone and on site. Hot tub was great, kitchen really well equipped for a holiday cottage, really enjoyed our stay.
A beautiful well equipped lodge in gorgeous surroundings. Gemma and Lloyd were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for Gemma. She was extremely friendly and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We had lots of beautiful walks and our local pub was in walking distance and was lovely. The children had a great time blackberry picking and exploring. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing and memorable holiday x
This was our second stay at Shells Cottages, We loved our stay at Hazel Lodge, we had another party stay in Ash at the same time. The use of the gardens was especially brilliant with having 7 children with us. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evening Gemma did a great job of welcoming us and making sure we had everything we needed. We can't fault the accommodation!
Fantastic spot, great accomodation, amazing hot tub. Gemma was very helpful and attended to any requests promptly.
The lodge was great, really clean and well equipped. We spent most of the time in the garden so really nice to find all the outside loungers. The one problem we had with all the bedrooms was how light they are in the morning. We had hoped for a relaxing lie in, but we were up with the sun. Black out blinds definitely needed! Also maybe some wd40 on the creaky doors! We walked to The White Horse on the Saturday evening, really recommend it there.
Brilliant host. He was more than happy to pop over and help us get in to the WiFi. The lodge was so clean and fresh. Would definitely stay again.
Fab weekend
Spent a lovely weekend here with the girls, very chilled. Such a Lovely lodge & hot-tub (maybe have the entrance to the lodge near the tub tho as we were dripping water through the lodge) a lovely stroll to the pub on Sunday for an amazing beef dinner.

The cottage was very comfortable and we were made to feel very welcome. We'd be very happy to go back again.
Rachel
Perhaps warn people staying at the property that bin liners aren't provided? We checked r.e. washing up liquid and toilet rolls, but might want to add this to the info too?
FANTASTIC - 10/10
We are just about to end our week stay at 'Hazel Lodge'. We have had a fantastic time. The lodge is perfect, the hot tub is fab and the grounds are beautiful. Having a washing machine has been so great, meaning we don't go home with that feeling of all the dirty washing to do!! Gemma the manager was friendly, kind and always available to help. We will definately be back and would highly recommend to all Cannot fault a thing, has been a perfect end to our Summer holiday as a family. Thank you
Amazing time at hazel lodge! ! And gemma the host was so accommodating and helpful
Gemma was extremely helpful and welcoming , we enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked up for 2 weeks next year
Excellent Break
Has a party of 8 normally we would be tripping over each other but this wasn't the case has our accommodation was reasonably well spaced for a medium sized Lodge, The 2nd floor helped with this as the children had there own space leaving the adults to enjoy our well deserved relaxing break, The hot tube was brilliant and kept well maintained, The weather was a total washout but didn't effect our holiday what so ever, the Hot tube was well covered so we still had use of that My only criticism would be no Wi-Fi but I personally found that not a problem giving Us all some long over due family time and interaction. I know the owners are looking into Wi Ffor the future If you do need some family bonding and a relaxing holiday, Gemma was very helpful and accommodating I would strongly recommend this break to everyone, Best regards The Ferguson Family? Honestly couldn't praise this place enough, there were 7 of us and a dog staying in the lodge and found the split upstairs and downstairs gave the group plenty of space. The hot tub was amazing and as another reviewer states it does back onto another hottub, however, it's not overlooked as there is a 20 foot wall between the 2 and when you're in the hot tub you can't hear next door. Staff were really friendly and helpful and checked in that everything was OK throughout our stay and also recommended local places to eat and visit when asked. Great pub near by that is dog friendly, and plenty of local activities such as walks, the castle, harbour etc. Overall would certainly recommend staying here if you want a relaxing holiday with plenty to do if you don't mind 10 minutes in the car.
Great weekend away
We wanted to stay somewhere offering a little bit of luxury and were not disappointed at Hazel Lodge. It is part of a small holiday complex with other lodges in a semi rural location but near to the coast and Exmoor. The lodge was fitted to a high standard and we felt that there was no expense spared on the oak furniture in the dining room and the kitchen was well-equipped, although we did only have breakfast there. The hot tub was great to come back to in the evening after a day out walking or cycling. We found the manager to be welcoming and helpful and she recommended some good local eateries and places to visit. Having read the previous review about paying a deposit for the Playstation controller, we were surprised at this guests disappointment as we have found this to be the case at other properties we have stayed in. We happily paid our deposit which was returned when we returned the controllers at the end of our stay. Although we did not take a dog with us it is a great location for people with dogs and obviously they need to be kept on a lead in consideration of other people staying. There are lots of good walks in the area for those with or without a dog. We had a great weekend away and hope to return next year.

Brilliant place to stay, very clean and the owners were very friendly, lots to do within driving distance and plenty of walks to go out on. Lovely pub just down the road and the hot tub was amazing.
